First, A Bit of History
The Fender Telecaster stands as one of the most iconic and influential electric guitars in music history, debuting in 1950 as the Esquire before receiving its television-era inspired name. The instrument became essential across country, rock, and blues through its distinctive bright tone and straightforward durability.
Granada Television, Manchester-based and established in 1954, shaped British media as a regional ITV franchise. The broadcaster gained prominence through quality drama and the long-running Coronation Street (launched 1960), eventually merging with Carlton Communications in 2004 to form ITV plc.
Dave chose the Granada name to honour "the television heritage of both the Telecaster and Manchester."
Classic Tones, Fresh Design
The Granada maintains the Telecaster's powerful, punchy sound through custom pickups developed with Green Pickups of Manchester. These employ varied Alnico magnets to achieve vintage-modern tonal balance while remaining upgradeable for specific preferences.
The design distinguishes itself through refined contours and sleek lines inspired by the Telecaster's silhouette and other favoured guitar models, creating a fresh, modern feel without sacrificing recognisability.
Innovation Meets Tradition
Ancoats Guitars balances pushing the boundaries of guitar design while still respecting the traditions that established these instruments. The Granada exemplifies this philosophy through harmonised classic tones, contemporary aesthetics, and superior playability.
Customisations
The Stage version begins at £949, offering accessible entry into customisable, quality guitars. Extensive options permit finish personalisation, pickup selection, and hardware refinement, ensuring each Granada reflects individual playing styles without compromising construction quality or performance standards.
